Present Continuous Tense in English and Urdu, Hindi

Present Continuous Tense is used to talk about those actions which are on going / still going on or happening in present moment is called present continuous tense.

پہچان : اس زمانے میں اردو فقرے کے آخر میں رہا ہے، رہی ہے، رہے ہیں، رہا ہوں رہی ہوں وغیرہ آتے ہیں۔

Helping verbs

In present continuous tense we are having three helping verbs that are is, are, am. Is it is used with third person singular, am is used with first person singular and are is used with plural subjects.

Positive sentence

In the positive sentence of present continuous tense we use the ing form of the verb with helping verbs.

سادہ فقرے : اس زمانے میں ہم اعمدادی فعل کے ساتھ آئی ع جی فارم کا استعمال کرتے ہیں۔

Formula : subject+helping verb+1stv+ing+object+.

• She is cooking food. وہ کھانا پکا رہی ہے۔
• They are learning English. وہ انگلش سیکھ رہے ہیں۔

Negative sentence

In the negative sentence of present continuous tense we use not with the helping verbs to show the negative statement.

منفی فقرے : اس زمانے میں ہم اعمدادی فعل کے ساتھ ناٹ کا استعمال کرتے ہیں۔

Formula : subject+helping verb+not+1stv+ing+object+.

• She is not cooking food. وہ کھانا نہیں پکا رہی۔
• They are not learning English. وہ انگلش نہیں سیکھ رہے ہیں۔

Interrogative sentence

In the Interrogative sentence of present continuous tense we use helping verbs in the starting of the sentence to ask about the questions and we use question mark in the end of the sentence.

سوالیہ فقرے : اس زمانے میں ہم اعمدادی فعل کو جملے کے شروع میں استعمال کرتے ہیں اور جملے کے آخر میں سوالیہ نشان کا استعمال کرتے ہیں۔

Formula : helping verbs+subject+1stv+ing+object+?

• Is she cooking food? کیا وہ کھانا پکا رہی ہے؟
• Are they learning English? کیا وہ انگلش سیکھ رہے ہیں؟

Formal sentence

In the formal sentence of present continuous tense we use helping verbs in the beginning of a sentence and we use not after the subject and Interrogative mark is used at the end of a sentence.

ادبی فقرے : اس زمانے میں اعمدادی فعل کو ہم جملے کے شروع میں استعمال کرتے ہیں اور سبجیکٹ کے بعد نوٹ کا استعمال کرتے ہیں اور جملے کے آخر میں سوالیہ نشان لگاتے ہیں۔

• Is she not cooking food? کیا وہ کھانا نہیں پکا رہی ہے؟
• Are they not learning English? کیا وہ انگلش نہیں سیکھ رہے ہیں؟

Informal sentence

In the informal sentence of present continuous tense we use the short forms of helping verbs.

غیر ادبی فقرے : اس زمانے میں ہم اعمدادی فعل کے شارٹ فارم کا استعمال کرتے ہیں۔

Formula : helping verbs+not+subject+1stv+ing+object+?

• Isn’t she cooking food? کیا وہ کھانا نہیں پکا رہی ہے؟
• Aren’t they learning English? کیا وہ انگلش نہیں سیکھ رہے ہیں؟

• She is teaching Mathematics.
